Alternate Dispute Resolution
ADR refers to a process for resolving disputes through procedures other than official court proceedings, such as arbitration, mediation, or minitrials. The implementation of ADR legal framework must be guaranteed nationwide in order to lessen the burden of pending cases in the courts at all levels of the judicial hierarchy and expedite the administration of justice. In this respect, the Hon. Chief Justice of Pakistan/Chairman, LJCP, was presented with a proposal for the implementation of a legal framework for ADR in Pakistan. With pleasure, His Lordship approved the proposal and established an ADR Committee to oversee the national implementation of the ADR legal framework and to guarantee coordinated and concerted efforts on the part of the pertinent stakeholders to execute the ADR laws.
ADR laws in KPK are governed by The KPK Alternate Dispute Resolution Act, 2020 and the KPK Dispute Resolution Rules 2021. In Punjab, the relevant act is The Punjab Alternate Dispute Resolution Act, 2019 and ADR Rules 2020.
